Dear colleagues:
I’ve just returned from Namibia, where I was invited to speak about the need to move beyond GDP by the Namibia Statistics Agency and in the presence of their prime minister. In May I will address Mozambique’s ruling party on the same topic. We are now really set to use 2014 to focus on moving Africa beyond GDP. Can we link any of our initiatives to similar examples going on in other continents (or in other African countries)? We need all possible synergies to make this work. Please let me know.
BTW, I don’t know if you saw this great review of the three most influential books on GDP, which has just been published by the Hedgehog Review: http://iasc-culture.org/THR/channels/Common_Place/2014/03/whats-the-matter-with-gdp/
